Fake Accounts

As regular readers (both of them) will know, I like to wind up Ghanaian love scammers and get them banned from Facebook.

Good news is that after a few months of inaction, Facebook is zapping fake accounts again - in fact, they have taken to warning me about fakes! They used to come back and say the account doesn't violate community standards. Now they zap them, almost on demand. It's very gratifying

Take, for example, the lovely Aminizia Don
Classic Busty Blonde looks - and lives in Ghana. Why is it almost always Ghana? I suspect that someone in Accra has made a killing and everyone wants to copy him

Aminizia's profile checks out - although I suspect that her first name is actually Donald.  Unlike her lovely compatriot, Smith Saint.  A brunette - makes a nice change.  One gets so tired of busty blondes.  Well, no, that isn't strictly true, but it does show a little bit more imagination on the part of my scammer.  Not often you meet an Ebenezer these days

Anyway, let's report to Facebook.  Click on the Profile, and select Find Support or Report Profile.  Depending on the scam, it's probably Pretending To Be Someone Fake And then Someone Who Doesn't Exist
They ask you to confirm - Don't forget to click Report Profile, because if you just click on Done, nothing will happen
Facebook have taken to mentioning that they are a bit short-handed They will do their best - Continue Anyway If they can't do it, they will probably send a message to say they can't
I'm pretty certain that trying to scam me out of $2000 is against community standards - tick that box!
So they have your report - over the next few hours, they will do their best to review it.  Don't panic if you don't hear anything
You can block your scammer if you like - I tend not to, because I like to see what happens.  If Facebook doesn't zap them, I might try again in a few days

So if you suspect a fake account, report, report, report!

The Chinese Bitcoin Scammer

A pretty Chinese woman sends me a friend request.  She doesn't fit the pattern of the West African love scammers.  No boobs, for a start.   She seems pleasant enough, so I chat and wait for the scam to make itself apparent.   It's much more subtle than the love scammers.  In fact, to start with, if I didn't know it was a scam, I wouldn't be able to tell.  Eventually she gets to the point.  She has been investing in cryptocurrency and wants me to join in.   Yu Qing Ning is clearly doing well, but sadly my friend Josef Vissarionovitch lost $200k in a recent crypto crash (there's always a recent example of people losing vast amounts).  Miss Yu gives up and vanishes from my life.   It seems that Miss Yu isn't for real, to my amazement.  But I would never have guessed that she was a modern slave in a Burmese scam factory.  Check out this CNN exposé Here's where Miss Yu comes from

A Clone Calls

I get a friend request from a friend on Facebook.  Hi, she says, have you heard the good news?  It seems that she has been awarded $100,000 from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  Sometimes from some unspecified Federal agency that is giving out large sums of money to random people for no obvious reason (because hey, that's how the federal government works, isn't it).  And guess what?  I'm on the recipient list too! All I have to do to get my money  is send an email to some guy to register my claim.  She gives me the email address of some guy.  The deal is, I've won $$$$  and I send $ to register my claim It's a bit odd, because I'm already friends with my friend - how come she is sending me a friend request?  And when I look at her profile, it's all new.   So I check - and lo and behold, my friend is wholly unaware of having sent me a friend request today.  We report it to Facebook, and after a few hours the ...

Welcome to Scammerama!

There's a beautiful girl half my age who wants to be my friend on Facebook.  Oddly, despite being utterly gorgeous and a beauty queen from Brazil to boot, Ellie Zwonke has only been on Facebook for two days and has no friends at all.  And she has chosen me, fat old balding guy, to fall in love with and wants to share her life with me.  I suppose I must be irresistible to women?  I don't like to boast, but hot babes get in touch every day.  Models, students, fashion designers, all sorts of cuties.  Curiously, although they come from Florida, Texas and California in the main, they almost all now live in Kumasi, Ghana.  Now I've never been to Kumasi, but listen guys, the density of hot blondes in the population must be quite astonishing.  Now before you go on the Air Ghana website to enquire about tickets, let me share with you this photo of Elizabeth Sarpong: Elizabeth has another photo in her profile, and oddly enough, it...
